"PiLoT1, art and science, a collaboration between SLAC/FineArts and KU LeuvenArt and science have a lot in common and merging these two fields can lead to bigger things! This is why in the academic year 2016-2017 a collaboration was set up between the fine arts section of SLAC (stands for ‘Stedelijke Leuvense Academie en Conservatorium’, the art academy and music conservatory of the city of Leuven) and the KU Leuven. This project appropriately carries the name PiLoT. It concerns a trajectory in which not only the creation of a work of art but also the navigating, experimenting/testing and bridging of the two worlds are the goal. PiLoT1 culminated in an exhibition at STUK May 17-28." source:pilotleuven.wordpress.com

The starting point for ‘Sights of Necessary Trouble’ are walks along Leuven’s ‘Vaartkom’ area. These strolls became searches for order in chaos. Specific spots that triggered emotions or memories were captured as images. Christiane Aerts collects and cherishes objects that others discard or pass carelessly. These were used to create an installation from diverse materials that represent her walks and her imagination. The imaginary overcomes and creates a new kind of order in the chaos.
